Garret Gheen, MPT
Garret received his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy and his Bachelor’s in Health Science from Loma Linda University in 2004. Garret started his career in Southern California, developing new courses and curriculum for some of the latest physical therapy techniques before moving to the Redding area with his young family in 2007. He specializes in outpatient orthopedics and neck/back rehabilitation and has developed programs for total joint rehabilitation as well as a vestibular (dizziness) rehabilitation program. Garret also is an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, certified through the American Physical Therapy Association. Garret is a devoted family man, and is active in sports and outdoor recreation including mountain biking, running, hiking, golfing, fly fishing, snowboarding, and surfing.
Melissa Thomas, DPT
Melissa is originally from Denver, Colorado. She attended Colorado State University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Exercise Science and was also a part of the Division I Cross Country and Track teams. In 2013, Melissa graduated from Stony Brook University on Long Island with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Melissa has a passion for orthopedic rehabilitation and continues to increase her knowledge and skills through continuing education courses. Her goals are to assist in injury prevention, speed injury recovery and restore function following surgical procedures. Melissa uses evidence based practice utilizing manual therapy techniques, exercise, patient education and modalities to achieve the quickest and most efficient results. She enjoys treating all orthopedic conditions, and treats each patient as a whole person and not just a body part. In her free time she enjoys hiking and running, weight lifting, spending time with friends and traveling abroad. She is excited to help her new community of Weaverville.
Chelsea Miraglia, PTA
Chelsea is from Knoxville, Tennessee and graduated from the Accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Roane State College in 2011. She also studied Ecological and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Tennessee and Therapeutic Massage. Her life experience playing sports, being active outdoors, and working as a manual laborer led to her to become a PTA to help others restore function in their lives. Chelsea has worked in various settings including Outpatient Orthopedics, Inpatient Acute Care, Skilled Nursing, Home Health, and Vestibular Rehabilitation. Our clinic and the beautiful mountains brought Chelsea to Weaverville earlier this year. In her spare time she enjoys exploring the area hiking, biking, and paddling.
Jessica, PT Technician
Jessica is originally from Orange County, California. She graduated from the American Institute of Massage Therapy in 2005, and went on to Portland to study Reiki and Herbology and start her own massage practice. Jessica has worked in various holistic care and rehabilitation settings as well as providing massage care for clients in the last 15 years.
Her position at Mountain Valley Physical Therapy is to aid the Physical Therapist and patients to make their experience comfortable and beneficial. She prides herself in positive thinking and connecting mind, body and soul to life and work. When she is not working, Jessica enjoys spending time with her kids and dogs in the beautiful terrain of Trinity County.
Rose, PT Technician
Rose is originally from Southern California. She graduated from Irvine High School and attended Orange Coast College. She has been married for 35 years to her husband Brad, and they have two amazing sons. Rose’s role at Mountain Valley Physical Therapy is to set patients up on modalities and assist with their exercises to aide them in their recovery. In her free time, Rose enjoys sailing, learning new languages and spending time with her family.
Samantha is responsible for the front office duties at Mountain Valley Physical Therapy including patient scheduling and insurance, and is more than happy to answer any questions you might have. She enjoys welcoming new patients and helping out where she can around the clinic.
When she is not working, Samantha loves being outside with her two boys, camping and spending as much time as possible in the water fishing, swimming and tubing.
